Obama Haters are Missing Their Chance with the School Speech
by
Tex Norman(64)
I guess when you are a sinner your saved family member feel obligated to bring you to your senses, which will lead to repentence, and will be followed by spewing hatred for Obama which is what Jesus would want. One of my whacko family members sent me an email with this in the subject line:
Concerned Parents, Read This.
The text of the email was a tirade by some Texas preacher who objects to Obama speaking to school children because he wants to get kids to "serve Obama" when they should be "serving the Lord."
There is no shortage of radical quotes from Obama haters.
“The thing that concerned me most about it was it seemed like a direct channel from the president of the United States into the classroom, to my child. I don’t want our schools turned over to some socialist movement.”
Brett Curtis, Pearland, Tex., who said he would keep his three children home.
“As the father of four children, I am absolutely appalled that taxpayer dollars are being used to spread President Obama’s socialist ideology.”
Florida Republican Party chair Jim Greer
"No president, Republican or Democrat, should interrupt the education process in this manner. Our children should not be exploited this way for partisan purposes."
This objection from Sally Kern is particularly transparent. Sally Kern hates anything that is not Religious Right Wing Republican. Kern says she objects to ANY President, Republican or Democrat from interrupting the educational process but she herself promoted and supported something called America’s Legislators Back To School Program.
Your Ideas Count! That’s the message lawmakers will bring to students across the country when they visit classrooms during the America’s Legislators Back to School Program.
From one of Sally Kern’s produced America’s Legislators Back to School Program brochure.
State Sen. Steve Russell, R-Oklahoma City, compared the president's efforts to speak to school children with indoctrination programs seen in communist countries and Nazi Germany.
"I'm concerned parental rights are being usurped by this. This is akin to something you would see in North Korea or under Saddam Hussein's Iraq. It attempts to create a cult of personality and goes directly against our personal liberties."
State Sen. Steve Russell, R-Oklahoma City
Jim Greer, chairman of the Florida Republican Party, said the speech is an effort to "spread President Obama's socialist ideology" and "justify his positions" on health care, the economy and taxes.
“The left has always used kids in public schools as guinea pigs and as junior lobbyists for their social liberal agenda."
Conservative columnist Michelle Malkin
The Pot Calling the President Black
The objections to Obama speaking to school children is not the true objection. It really doesn’t matter what Obama does the Wingnut Right will oppose him and spear him with lies. They didn’t object when Saint Ronald Regan delivered a back-to-school speech to students back in 1988 and in that speech President Regan stressed the importance of low taxes to school age children, yet there were no screams of indoctrination then. Why not? Low taxes no matter what was a Regan Republican issue.
When President George Bush [the first President Bush] addressed school children on TV back in 1991, there were objections from the Democrats who accused him of using taxpayer money [$27,000 to produce the broadcast – for political advertising, but there was nothing like the vitriolic attacks Obama is enduring now.
It seems it is OK to address school children if the President is a conservative and White, but it is an unmitigated evil if the President is progressive and Black. The Wingnut objection smacks of siddity.
The word siddity is defined this way:
Siddity: adj. – [1] Uppity, pretentious, stuck-up, conceited person who is stuck on and full of themselves. [2] Acting as if you are better than someone else. [3] To "put on airs."
In other words, Obama is black and doesn’t know his place, he is too “uppity.” During the Jim Crow days of my youth I heard people objecting to blacks going to school with whites because they feared the blacks would date and mate with their women and have Mulatto children, and start acting like they are equal to white people.
The White House has had this speech to school kids on the calendar for some time and the stated intent was to urge kids to stay in school, to work hard, and to believe that they can be whatever they want to be and do whatever they put their minds to. This is the message the radical right objects to. The objection can’t be to the message because almost everyone would support such a message. The objection has to be because it is coming from someone they see as liberal and black, and uppity.
The Wingnuts Are Missing an Opportunity
If the radical right really believes that Obama is going to go on TV in classrooms all over the United States and is going to try to spread socialism, indoctrinate children to vote as Democrats, support Socialized Medicine, and hating and taxing rich people then they should let him talk. If Obama did anything like what they claim he is planning to do, Obama would be politically destroyed. Let him talk and then use his words to drive him out of office. Why not? Don’t you believe these things you say Obama is planning to do? Then let him, and use his own words to impeach him.
