Inhofe: An idiot wrapped in a moron.

Inhofe is a Republican which means he claims to be as pure as the driven snow and claims there are no divorces or homosexuals in his family. Obviously he has some very careful, in the closet relatives, but this obvious homophobia makes it seem especially odd when we hear that Inhofe admits that he and Franken " physically embraced'' in front of a number of people not long before the Minnesota Democrat took the oath of office on the Senate floor.

This hugging stuff is particularly odd to me when you realize that this hug comes not long after an interview with Inhofe where he said,

" I'll tell you what a lot of people are thinking, and that is it looks like things are going to be over and we are going to get the clown from Minnesota ... They are not going to get more than 35 votes. "

I would be reluctant to make eye contact with Jim Inhofe for fear that his purity might burn out my retina, and here he is hugging on the newest Democratic member of the United States Senate.

" He introduced me to his wife, who couldn't have been nicer,'' Inhofe said.

Wait! For Inhofe to say this pleasant stuff about Ms. Franken indicates that Jim Inhofe has the capacity to be polite, pleasant, and, what is more astounding to me, he is able to be civil to people who think and believe stuff he doesn’t think or believe.

When reminded of his previous insult to Al Franken Senator Inhofe said that neither one brought it up. " But believe me, he knew. He kind of looked like a clown when I was talking to him. "

Now, to be fair, Inhofe did say, " I didn't mean to be disrespectful. I don't know the guy, but ... for a living he is a clown. That's what he does for a living. "

It seems like an odd way to rationalize what was said, and if it was intended as an apology, well, it sucks like a vacuum cleaner. Al Franken has the ability to be funny. Al Franken has the ability to write books that are insightful , engaging, and entertaining. Al Franken is smart. These are all things very foreign to an intellectual gnat brain like Inhofe. Franken is not a clown, and didn’t make his living as a clown. Franken was a satirist and a comedian, at one time, and now he is a US Senator. Inhofe was and remains a narrow minded right wing ideologue with few ideas.
