Michael Steele Comes to Prove He Can be as Angry as Any Old White Man

On Tuesday Republican National Convention chairman Michael Steele was on the attack to show that he is the right man for the job, despite his record of false starts so far in his short tenure as chief of the RNC.

In his speech, he urged stronger attacks on President Obama, even as the RNC considers a resolution demanding the Democratic Party rename itself “the Democratic Socialist Party.” (If you want to know what the opposite of socialist is, please see my article here.)

This speech made me think Steele was trying to prove that he can be as angry as any other old white man in the Republican party. In his speech, he went through a list of one-liners mocking Democrats such as Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Tim Gietner. He finished by mocking Barney Frank’s lisp by saying that Republicans “can’t understand him.” It appeared as though Steele was making sure that the Republican Party hadn’t just alienated thinking Conservations, but also all parents raising a child with a speech impediment.

Yes, Michael Steel can be just as angry as any of his other fellow Republicans.
